Our Experiences

  • Drafted and advocated the passage of Jordan's package of WTO-compliant Intellectual Property legislation, which included amending the Trademarks and Copyright Laws of Jordan as well as drafting and advocating new laws pertaining to Patents; Geographical Indications; Unfair Competition And Trade Secret; Layout -Designs of Integrated Circuits; Industrial Designs and Industrial Models and Plant Varieties.

  • Assisted the Government of Jordan in preparing answers of the TRIPS Council Members regarding the legislative review related to the implementation of the TRIPS Agreement.

  • Handled the World Bank funded project on amending IP legislation of the Palestinian National Authority including drafting WTO-TRIPS compliant legislation for Palestinian National Authority.

  • Advised the Jordanian Government in all IP related issues in the Jordan-US Free Trade Agreement (JUSTFA): Assessed compatibility, along with the required action for compliance, related parties and period. The project also involved the preparation of USAID's JUSFTA Legal Gap Analysis which outlined copyright enforcement mechanisms under existing copyright legislation and related non-intellectual property (IP) legislation, and identified the gaps, loopholes, and obstacles faced by right owners that hinder effective copyright enforcement; and Prepared detailed compatibility matrices covering trademarks, geographical indications, patents, copyright and related rights, and undisclosed tests and data. Each of the related compatibility matrices highlights the related JUSFTA commitments and presents an assessment of those commitments with the current Jordanian legal system and practice, with recommendations for actions to be taken to ensure compliance and related parties responsibly for execution.

  • Advised the Jordanian Government on the amendment of the Trademarks and Patents regulations to allow implementation of the provisions of the Madrid Protocol.

  • Advised the Jordanian Government in the Kingdom's enforcement of ex officio administrative actions for copyright piracy and trademark infringement.

  • Advised hundreds of local and international clients on aspects of IPR including evaluating, protecting, licensing, administering and litigating such rights;

  • Recorded several precedents in key IP sectors and practices in the kingdom among them is the judicial precedent issued on 2003 by the court of cassation in respect of counterfeiting of lookalike products.

  • IBLAW was the first law firm in Jordan to successfully handle a domain name dispute before the National Arbitration Forum in the US.

  • Handles a huge portfolio of IPR litigation in the Kingdom, including borders and provisional measures.

  • Represented Al Hikma in acquiring the entirety of the Arab Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company PLC ("APM" or "Company") a publicly traded company on the Amman Stock Exchange for cash consideration of JD116.0 million ($163.6 million). IBLAW was able to guide the client through this transaction and complete the IP due diligence, and acquisition of all outstanding and publicly traded shares including Intellectual Property Rights within approximately 2 months.

  • Represented Philip Morris International in its acquisition of one of the major producers of tobacco in Jordan, the International Tobacco Cigarettes Company. IBLAW's scope of work entails conducting comprehensive legal Due Diligence,

  • Drafted signature Intellectual Property agreements (such as licensing, franchising, technology transfer, know how, manufacturing, joint ventures, and assignments agreements…..etc.

  • Managed the IP portfolio of a huge number of local and international clients in the Kingdom.
